promise me you’ll find your way home curiosa it’s something really special about these films I’m not sure how many have the opportunity to not only be performers and get to do the thing that you love but also be a Bonafide fan I just wanted to be part of that world and um it was it was a dream come true when I got the phone call Anna Taylor Joy and Chris Hemsworth answering the call and gearing up for the high octane action pack latest Mad Max installment premiering at this year’s glitzy KH film festival in the French Riviera many films that I think we’ve all grown up on that have inspired us have been represented and launched here and so to be here with this film this is pretty special I’m still pinching myself that happen go the 2015 box office and six-time Academy awardwinning Juggernaut Mad Max Fury Ro starring chariss theone Paving the way for Taylor Joy now putting her own pedal to the metal in the title role I can imagine that you’re entering this iconic franchise spaning more than 40 years there’s been huge names that have played the roles before you was there a pressure you’re trying to ignore that you try not to think about it cuz otherwise you wouldn’t do anything you’d be paralyzed with fear a fabulous thing The Fearless furiosa focusing on its female leads origin story with stunts and special effects amid a dystopian post-apocalypse itic World synonymous with the world of Mad Max Taylor Joy he won’t have to suffer much longer best known for playing a chess Prodigy in the Queen’s Gambit the role earning her one of the 11 Emmys the miniseries W in 2021 now starring opposite Chris Hemsworth the legendary Thor I’ve got this completely under control that why everything’s on fire oh yeah Hemsworth spending hours in the makeup chair to trans transform into his furiosa character the villain dementus your character as well well let’s just say it’s really good to to see you looking like yourself okay about a shower that was one of the first things that we we sort of Lent into with the the you know the look it’s so wonderful to sort of Lose Yourself within the look of the character not recognize the person staring back at you the Stars transforming and training to take the wheel for the film we started preparing about a year before I went out to Australia I still don’t have my driver’s license and so the first thing that they did was put me in a car put me on the motorbike and um then just a lot of physical training just to be able to do the stunts again and again and again but do I understand you don’t have a driver’s license is that what you yeah I still don’t have my D honorand I feel like you can just bring the movie to the DMV and say this is true already the film also proof of mad Max’s enduring Legacy 79-year-old George Miller directing again 45 years after the original Mt Max 1979 the franchise spotting four more films aside from furiosa this film or these films are kind of speculating about where we could go some kind of catastrophic unraveling and we go 45 to 50 years in in the future it kind of as I said gets back to the same kind of reduced world that you had in the western the action held together with a heart pounding centerpiece sequence featuring actor Tom Burke 15 minutes long and 9 months in the Mak it theer do you have a favorite stunt that you got to pull off cuz I understand you all did a lot of your own stuns I do love stowaway just because of how much it represents for all of us that did it but I remember I had it very broken up in my mind of like okay I’m going to spend 3 months underneath the ring I’m going to spend one month on the side and like the day that I finally got into the cabin with Tom I was like oh my God like I’d been underneath Tom to the side of Tom on top of Tom for like months and finally I was like able to sit down for a solid 3 days eat a sandwich it was great I loved it what was it like for you time to be in the middle of this action no I love doing that I didn’t know a guy who directed A lot of the second unit stuff that we did on that and I grabbed his arm one day I went I love this I do this forever this story now the second in a potential new Mad Max Trilogy I’d always found all of the Mad Max movies to be cautionary tales what’s really exciting about this is George has found a very good way of delivering a very entertaining piece of art that does contain seeds within it that kind of plant themselves in your brain and as you leave you start thinking about this they might give you a sense of what it’s like to to somehow endure and hold on to something human about yourself even in the most extreme situations I think that’s why we tell stories and it’s cool
