Josh Lempert (Patrick Wilson), a high school teacher, and his wife Lanna (Rose Byrne), a freelance musician, have a happy family of five. But when they move into their new home, panic and anxiety set in. Their infant daughter Kylie cries for no apparent reason, their second son Foster (Andrew Astor) is terrified of his bedroom, and their eldest son Dalton (Ty Simpkins) falls into a prolonged coma after a scare. This is followed by a series of strange and terrifying events. Mr. and Mrs. Lempert are so disturbed and close to a nervous breakdown that they finally decide to move away from this ominous place.
