Donald Trump gave a speech at last night’s state banquet that was filled with compliments, but there was one moment that likely didn’t sit well with the monarch, according to a royal expert.
It seems Trump deliberately avoided mentioning Prince Harry in his thank you remarks, with royal expert Ian Pelham Turner calling it a “deliberate snub” that King Charles was probably “not amused.”
Mr. Pelham Turner found it fascinating that Trump “heaped praise” on Prince William and Princess Kate, but left out Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, which could be interpreted as a “sideways swipe at the King’s younger son.”

Pelham Turner told Mirror US, “What were the private thoughts of King Charles? He may not have been amused.
“Trump being a traditionalist, rather than talking about the spare, it goes with British protocol – if you cannot say something positiuve about a person especially a royal family member, it is best not to say anything at all.”
Trump included some political comments in his remarks, which wasn’t surprising since it was anticipated, but nobody knew if he would ignore Harry, and when he did, it caught everyone’s attention.

He said, “Trump has gone off message, causing a diplomatic issue during his speech, talking about his domestic politics.”
But as the address went on, something even more significant grabbed his attention, that Trump skipped over Harry, and it seemed deliberate.

The royal expert continued: “Further intrigue during his speech, where Trump heaps great praise on Prince William, saying he has a wonderful future and that Kate is a wonderful, healthy girl, but no mention of Harry at all.”
According to Pelham Turner, some media outlets interpreted this as “a sideways swipe against the King’s younger son.”
King Charles was seated directly beside Trump during the address, and it could have been disheartening for the father of two when he noticed one of his sons was being excluded.
He heaped praise on William and Kate, but no mention of Harry
Charles recently met with Harry for the first time in months, and it appears the pair are moving toward reconciliation.
While nothing is guaranteed, the signs look encouraging, and we trust Trump didn’t attempt to influence Charles’s thinking during his UK visit – though we certainly give Charles enough credit to make his own choices, particularly regarding Harry.
