It’s called the “rule of thirds,” which is a method for dressing where you break the body into thirds rather than halves as a way to make the overall aesthetic more visually appealing. (When you think about it, the very middle of our bodies is our widest point, so dividing your outfit evenly between top and bottom doesn’t exactly do us any favors.) Princess Catherine nails this stylist-approved technique with a high-waisted trouser and a blazer that nips in at that exact same point.
Of course, we’d be remiss if we didn’t also mention her (mostly) monochromatic look. Combined with the “rule of thirds,” the overall vibe makes her stand a little taller—not that she necessarily needs that. (Catherine is 5’9” and already commands a room.)
