The Gist

Prince William and Kate Middleton made a subtle, meaningful change to their official Instagram account on Thursday, November 13.

The couple uploaded a new profile photo from last year’s Festival of Remembrance to honor veterans.

They also attended events on Remembrance Sunday and Remembrance Day, or Armistice Day.

Following a meaningful appearance at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Sunday, Prince William and Kate Middleton are enlisting the powers of social media to continue honoring veterans of the British Armed Forces. On Thursday, November 13, the couple even went so far as to change their profile photo to one from last year’s Festival of Remembrance.

Last year’s commemorations were extra special, of course, because they marked Middleton’s triumphant return to royal duties after completing her chemotherapy treatment. Notably, she also wore her engagement ring for the occasion for the first time in almost year.

For the first event, the future queen wore a black structured Catherine Walker coatdress with a high neckline, paired with a coordinating black hat, a ruffled lace scarf, and her late mother-in-law’s Collingwood Pearl Earrings, which were an engagement present to Princess Diana after she accepted then-Prince Charles’s marriage proposal.
