Selfridges has launched a new royal festive range featuring senior members of the Royal Family. From the late Diana, Princess of Wales to Prince William and Queen Camilla, the glass baubles allow fans to bring a touch of royalty to their Christmas tree.

But the expensive decorations, which retail between £38-£40 per bauble, are more of a festive fail than festive fun as shoppers rage that they look nothing like the royals. Each of the ornaments features just the bust of the royal, and measures 10cm in height.

Princess Diana’s one has sparked particular condemnation, with people noting that it looks more like Clare Balding or Rodney Trotter than the late royal.

Princess Diana Christmas bauble

The Princess Diana bauble is the most expensive in the range, at £40 – but it’s also the most controversial. Shoppers have mocked the glass bauble, with Melanie Cooper saying, “It looks more like Clare Balding wearing a Christmas jumper to me. And I bet it costs way too much as well.” Laura Lindsay said: “What in the Jesus, Mary and Joseph and his little donkey too, is that?” Sarah Luddington said: “That’s a really good Rodney Trotter bauble.”
