Kimora Lee Simmons on why she stays close to Kim Porter’s daughters
Kimora Lee Simmons shares how her kids and extended family shaped the new season of “Back in the Fab Lane.”
For Russell Simmons, “there are two sides to every story,” after Kimora Lee Simmons addressed in recent interviews where the two currently stand.
In a Threads post published Sunday, Dec. 14, Russell reposted a People magazine interview with Kimora, in which the model-turned-fashion mogul told the outlet she doesn’t “have a relationship really” with her 68-year-old ex-husband.
Kimora and Russell share daughters Ming Lee, 25, and Aoki Lee, 23. She shares a son, Kenzo Lee, 16, with actor Djimon Hounsou, 61; and her youngest son, Wolfe Lee, 10, with a former investment banker, Tim Leissner, 54.
Separately, in a recent interview with USA TODAY, the “Kimora: Back in the Fab Lane” star also addressed whether she’s in contact with Simmons, Hounsou and Leissner. “No, not really at all. No, they’re not really in my life,” she said. “And we don’t – yeah, no. And not because of me. Because of them.”
But Russell, at least, is calling her out for her comments.
“I gave u 50,000 a month for 20 years,” Russell wrote on Threads. “I was ur best/only friend. I’m the godfather to your other 3 kids, until one day you stole my stock. I have been fighting for my kids love and my bread ever since.”
He also claimed that Kimora “threatened that if I sued you, I would never speak to my kids again.”
Kimora Lee Simmons claps back at Russell Simmons’ claims
On Monday, Dec. 15, Kimora wrote on her Instagram Story that all Russell said were “lies.”
“My ‘girls’ are GROWN WOMEN! You know these are lies,” she wrote. “Why are you typing from thousands of miles away in a non-extradition country?”
“Go negotiate and answer your accusers,” she added, alluding to the embattled music mogul being on the hook for over $8 million in confidential settlement agreements, according to three women who have accused him of sexual assault.
Lawyers for the women — Toni Sallie, Alexia Jones and Tina Klein-Baker — filed affirmations this month claiming the music mogul has not paid them over $8 million in settlements plus interest, according to New York Supreme Court filings obtained by USA TODAY in January.
Each of the women claims Simmons, who admitted to no wrongdoing, agreed to settlements in 2023 and made initial payments but failed to continue paying toward their settlement amounts. The Def Jam Recordings founder allegedly owes Sallie $2,940,000 plus 20% yearly interest, Jones $190,000 plus 20% yearly interest and Klein-Baker $4,950,000.
Kimora Lee Simmons says she tries to ‘foster’ relationships with the fathers of her children
In her Dec. 9 interview with USA TODAY, the reality TV star said she tries to “foster the best that I can [between] relationship and environment, but sometimes it takes two to tango, and they don’t always tango. So it’s not really co-parenting at the moment. It’s like, no, I’m parenting. I’m both parents right now.”
Kimora added that her kids “are with me 99.9% of the time. Very rarely do they see the other parent. They do a little bit. But like I say, that relationship is theirs to have, not mine to interfere with,” she said.
“I want the best, but I definitely keep my little chickies all in a brood. So regardless of how that turns out on any given day, I know that they’ll be OK because they have support and they have family. They say it takes a village – and my kids definitely have a village.”
The fashion mogul recently made her return to reality TV with “Kimora: Back in the Fab Lane.” Meanwhile, Simmons − who has been hit with at least a dozen accusations of sexual assault − has since relocated to Bali, Indonesia, which has no extradition treaty with the U.S.
