Even if you haven’t sped through Heated Rivalry (no offence, but what have you been doing?), you’ll likely be familiar with Connor Storrie. The 25-year-old actor has shot up from relative obscurity in recent months, as the brooding Russian hockey star, Ilya Rozanov in HBO’s hit series adaptation.

But don’t be mistaken: Storrie’s pull can’t be confined to the hockey romance genre. From SNL hosting gigs, to a wardrobe brimming with YSL, this American actor’s star is steadily on the rise. Here’s what you might not know about him.

He’s not actually fluent in Russian

Nope, it’s just the work of a very good (very thick) accent. In actual fact, Storrie was born on February 22, 2000 in Colorado, and grew up in Odessa, Texas, and later Conejo Valley in Southern California.

Although he’s best known for playing a hockey star, Storrie was actually a gymnast growing up. That’s likely how he managed to pick up ice skating so quickly, without having any real prior experience. Then, when he expressed an interest in acting, was enrolled in a performing arts school.

He was also an aspiring YouTuber

Storrie really is just like us. As a teenager, he took to YouTube to make his dreams of becoming an actor a reality, uploading several videos under the username actorboy222. Yes, you can still find them if you look hard enough.

He used to work as a waiter

While he was hustling for his big break, Storrie made a living as a waiter — specifically at a restaurant called Culver Grill in Los Angeles. But according to the actor, he wasn’t great at it.

“I did a f–king bad job,” Storrie told Variety. “I dropped the ball, so I got another bad review. My boss sat me down, being like, ‘This is not acceptable. This is a final warning. If anything like this ever happens again, you’re out.’”

Luckily, just a few weeks later, he landed the role on Heated Rivalry, and the rest is history.

He wears a lot of YSL

We’ll admit, it’s pretty easy to imagine Storrie walking a runway for Anthony Vaccarello’s Saint Laurent. And while the actor hasn’t officially signed on as an ambassador (yet) we could definitely see it happening. Not only has he repped the brand on several red carpets, but he also reportedly signed an exclusivity deal to attend only the Saint Laurent show this season.

He’s been spotted with Luca Guadagnino

Yes, you read that correctly. So, could Storrie soon be joining Guadagnino’s cinematic universe? In an interview with L’Officiel USA, the actor revelead he read four scripts on a recent plane ride. Surely one of them could be from Guadanino? A girl can dream…

He’s set to host SNL

Charming and funny?! Well, we’ll soon find out with Sorrie slated to host Saturday Night Live on February 28 — transporting his star power to a certifiably mainstream arena.
