EXCLUSIVE: Comedian Jimmy O. Yang has set a theatrical release for Finally Home, his third comedy special, taped during a sold-out arena run in his hometown of Hong Kong.
The special will screen exclusively in Hong Kong at Emperor Cinemas beginning March 20, and open in theaters across the U.S. and Canada on March 27, with distribution from Variance Films. Tickets go on sale March 17th. Check out a trailer above.
Self-proclaimed as the “Taylor Swift of Hong Kong,” Yang turned his latest special into a full-scale homecoming celebration — complete with pyrotechnics, musical moments, and surprise cameos. With it, he becomes the first Chinese-American comedian ever to debut a stand-up special in theaters in both America and Hong Kong.
Yang talks in the special about his family, fighting for the bill, and his experience as an immigrant returning to his hometown for the first time in 25 years, weaving together his English set with a touch of subtitled Cantonese. He filmed the hour during a five-show, sold-out run at the Hong Kong Coliseum in June 2025, where he performed to more than 35,000 fans. Originally scheduled for just two nights, the run expanded to five performances after overwhelming demand.
A stand-up, actor, and writer, Yang recently starred in the Hulu series Interior Chinatown, directed by Academy Award winner Taika Waititi. Widely recognized for his breakout role in HBO’s Emmy-winning comedy Silicon Valley and his scene-stealing performance in Crazy Rich Asians, his other screen credits include Netflix’s romantic comedy Love Hard and workplace satire Space Force, where he also contributed as a writer. As a stand-up, he tours internationally, with his specials Good Deal and Guess How Much? ranking among the top-performing on Prime Video.
Writing, performing, directing and producing his new special himself, Yang is represented by Artists First, CAA, and Schreck Rose Dapello.
