After ‘Never Have I Ever’ concluded with its fourth season, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan shared why she thinks Devi is dead in an E! News interview. Maitreyi jokingly revealed that, in her personal “canon,” Devi is “dead in a ditch,” explaining that she says it to help fans move on from the hit Mindy Kaling–created Netflix series. The actress also shared an unfortunate update about Devi’s relationship with former rival Ben Gross (played by Jaren Lewison). As she put it, “Definitely, they’ve broken up. That is not cool at all. I loved that show and I loved Devi. I know she and Ben are very happy together.

I don’t want any of them to die though! Too sad!! It would hav been fun to follow them to college or do a movie that was a time jump way into the future. What I really expected before the last season came out was that Paxton would have a good college experience, and Devi would visit him there a few times, which would have been fun. Ending the series where they did made a lot of sense though.

Oh I know that she was joking but thinking Devi dead in a ditch sounds so harsh for me. And feels a bit disrespectful. I honestly think she's still with Ben. I think there was a better way to have answered this even though she is probably annoyed of the question.

That sounds disrespectful !. She should not say that to the character that made her who she is. She has to have some respect to her breakout character. It is right to think that people need to move over that character because she think she has lot more to offer. But there has to be a better way than saying she is dead in a ditch.
