Taylor Swift Sued by Vegas Performer Over Life of a Showgirl | E! News
A Las Vegas performer named Maren Wade is suing Taylor Swift, as well as related business parties, for copyright infringement, according to a March 30 lawsuit obtained by E! News. In the files, Wade alleges that the title of Swift’s latest album ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ is too similar to Confessions of a Showgirl, the title of a column Wade says she started in 2014 which has since evolved into a podcast and live show. Wade—who previously celebrated the release of Swift’s album online—also states in the lawsuit that she registered the name ‘Confessions of a Showgirl’ with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) in 2015 for entertainment services. “After years of continuous use, the mark achieved incontestable status,” the lawsuit reads, “a statutory recognition of the goodwill Plaintiff earned through her sustained, personal effort. For more than a decade, ‘Confessions of a Showgirl’ identified a single source: Plaintiff.” But upon the release of ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ in October 2025, according to the lawsuit, “the designation was affixed to consumer goods, stamped onto labels, tags, and packaging, and deployed as a source identifier across retail channels—all directed at the same audience Plaintiff had spent years cultivating.” E! KARMA!! She recently sued an innocent business, Swift Home, who sells bedding products. Swift is a common name. No one would think those pillows and blankets are associated with Taylor or that she sells them. This is a form of bullying. It is so embarrassing to be a billionaire, to have everything and still goes after the small businesses, the little guys. The US Patent and Trademark Office denied Taylor when she tried to trademark "Life of a Showgirl" because it's too similar to "Confessions of a Showgirl." Both parties are performers. Yet Taylor went ahead… She is very protective of her own trademark but totally disrespects others.
