  1. It’s not great, but he hasn’t seen much if this is “the MOST disgusting thing” he’s ever seen.

EDIT Hyperbole is just another word for lying.

We need a term for the future nepo babies that dont get work off their parents name but instead use their parents likeness in AI projects as a cash cow

I mean, one has to wonder: did NOBODY involved think “hey, maybe we should draw the line when we reach NECROMANCY”?

uhhh were people even showing up for this dude’s movies when he was flesh and bone?

anyway welcome to the black mirror episode yall. series finale!

  5. If the deceased actor or actress (Val in this situation) has given written/legal permission for their likeness to be used after their death or given their likeness rights to next of kin then I don’t see an issue with it. If the movie sucks then it sucks, but as long as the person approved beforehand then why not?

  6. It appears we have hit the age of copyrighting/trademarking our likeness in our deaths.

I see a new field of law emerging. I need to find a way to capitalize on this…

…and not on my father’s death. That’s not cool.

  8. I see a future where the AI assistant that you can’t remove and is built into every TV asks you who you want to star in the movie you’re about to watch. You can select any actor from the free tier, or upgrade to Platinum Plus Tier to unlock Shrek, Elvis, Bugs Bunny, and Justin Timberlake.

I will pay to $54/month to watch Shawshank Redemption with Bugs Bunny as Andy Dufresne and How I Met Your Mother where every single character is played by Michael Jackson.

I can’t wait for the Oscars once this is the status quo. Who will possibly care?

  9. It’s a fair thing for her to say that starring in such a thing postmortem aligns with his values and interests and he wouldn’t be against it.

Moreover it is the objective of most parents to provide for their children to the best of their ability.

As a parent with similar outlooks, I think I would trust my child’s discretion around the use of my likeness post-mortem. Especially for something like a movie, and especially if he/she knew what kind of movies I prefer to star in, and my reasons for rejecting some of them. If she understood me. If she tried to understand me.

  11. Man I know that a lot of people don’t consider actors to be artists.
    But they are.
And it’s so fucking shitty that artists are being the first replaced. Artists have filled an essential role in counter culture, speaking truth to power, and pushing cultural change, for a long, long time.
Yes you can use examples like Kid Rock and Taylor Sheridan.
But that’s part of it. Allowing corporations this much control over art, allowing them to just manufacture art like a product, without even requiring human input anymore.

It’s fucking terrifying. And just, depressing.

  12. Honestly, the only one of these I am okay with is James Earl Jones for Darth Vader because he at least consented to this before he passed.

Chuck Tingle wrote a horror novel about this. Bury Your Gays. it’s good, its an exciting adventure in addition to being simultaneously heartening and uncomfortably prescient. Probably my favorite of his but that’s a tough call.

  14. The question is did he sign off on doing stuff like this with his image before he passed? Yes, that’s the question.

If they don’t want to pay living actors, we shouldn’t have to pay to see this film ☠️

I’m confused. Wasn’t the writers strike partly about being against AI but then Hollywood seems to be using it pretty widespread lately???

Anyone who goes to see this is honestly a traitor to the human race. And im not exaggerating

Using the phrase “resurrected by ai” genuinely seems like journalistic malpractice, what the actual fuck
