Jelly Roll isn’t afraid to admit that his weight loss journey is far from over.

After losing more than 200 pounds over the past few years, the country music star, 41, revealed he has gained some weight back during the holiday season.

“I’ve been working hard for the last three years, losing this weight, and I said, ‘I’m going to enjoy the holidays,’ and I had a big Thanksgiving meal, and I had a birthday meal, and I ate a big Christmas meal, kind of got off the rails,” he said in a YouTube vlog uploaded on Apr 17.

The “Save Me” singer shared that he broke his collarbone a few days before Christmas, requiring him to quit running, walking and exercising for an extended period of time. “I said all that to say that I have, to some degree, lost my way.”

He estimated he was about 40 to 60 pounds away from his actual goal weight, adding, “I don’t know, I haven’t weighed in. I’m avoiding the scale. I’m afraid to see what the scale’s gonna say.”

Jelly Roll reveals current weight after injury

Jelly Roll filmed himself stepping on a scale for the first time in months on April 10.

“I feel really fat. I feel really bloated. I feel like the scale is going to let me down,” he said right before the moment of truth. “I’m scared.”

The Grammy-winner weighed in at 276.2 pounds, adding, “So we’re up 12 pounds” compared to his pre-holiday weight.

He’s determined to shed more pounds as he pursues a new personal and professional goal, after fulfilling his dream of being a Men’s Health cover star in the magazine’s January issue.

What is Jelly Roll’s new goal in his weight loss journey?

Upon achieving his goal weight, Jelly Roll plans to be shirtless on the cover of a major magazine such as GQ, Rolling Stone, Vanity Fair, Forbes or Time.

“I know this is getting real silly now, but I don’t know, I just believe there’s a story that a guy can go from 560 pounds to a shirt off picture. It’s absurd,” he said.

In 2022, he made it his mission to be on the cover of Men’s Health, an accomplishment he has since checked off. In the cover story, he told the outlet that he weighed over 520 pounds more than five years ago.

“The needle went past 520, but it didn’t blow it down,” Jelly Roll said. “And I would play with it — I would teeter the foot up, like, how low could I get it? I was mad optimistic. So it could have been 560, it could have been 528.”

Jelly Roll does not credit GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic for his transformation, adding that he only used weight loss medication for a brief two-week period at the start of his process.

He said addressing his food addiction through mental health therapy, embracing a healthy lifestyle with a nutritionist and adding daily cardio were key to his success. He said he plans to train for the New York City marathon in November.
