Former WWE NXT star Luca Crusifino has retired from professional wrestling after his WWE release on Friday.
WWE held it’s latest round of talent releases on Friday, April 24, with 25 confirmed names so far being released from their contracts.
Among those names was WWE NXT star Luca Crusifino, who had recently been appearing on WWE Evolve with a new character after the breakup of the D’Angelo Family on NXT television last Summer.
Luca Crusifino Announces Retirement From Wrestling After WWE Release
Taking to Twitter today, Crusifino (Roman Macek) noted that he is now retiring from pro wrestling following his WWE release.
He said:
After much reflection, I’ve decided it’s time to close this chapter of my life.
Being a part of the WWE has been a dream ever since I was a child. Getting the chance to live out my dream in front of the world is something I’ll never take for granted. To the fans … thank you for every cheer, every boo, every moment of support. You made this journey unforgettable.
I am forever grateful for the friendships that I made along the way. From talent, to coaches, to the creative team, to every single person I came in contact with at the performance center … thank you! Thank you for pushing me, believing in me, and sharing the ring with me. I’ve learned more than I can ever put into words and met some of the greatest people that will be friends for life.
As of today, I’m officially stepping away and retiring from professional wrestling. It’s not an easy decision, but it’s the right one for me.
This isn’t goodbye, just the end of one incredible chapter.
Again, I can not say this enough … Thank you! What an amazing last 4 years and don’t worry about me … I’ll figure it out
And, no, i’m not joining onlyfans
With love, Roman Macek (Luca Crusifino)
WWE NXT talents released on Friday are subject to a 30 day non-compete clause, while main roster talents are subject to a 90 day non-compete clause.
Next Move For Released WWE Stars
While Crusifino has called it a career following his WWE release, other names that plan to continue wrestling have a number of options waiting for them following the expiration of their non-compete clauses.
While AEW‘s roster is also quite large with a number of talents struggling for TV time, the company would make a natural landing point for some of the released names, mainly the Motor City Machine Guns, who had previously appeared in the company at All Out in 2022.
TNA also has signed a number of recently departed WWE stars, and may end up being where a lot of the released talents land at the end of their non-competes.
