THE RUNDOWN
Princess Charlotte turned 11 years old on May 2.
To celebrate her, the Prince and Princess of Wales shared an official portrait.
They also posted a montage of footage of Charlotte in her everyday life, showing some of her hobbies.
On Saturday, May 2, Princess Charlotte celebrated her 11th birthday. Her parents, the Prince and Princess of Wales, honored the big day with a few social media posts. The first was a simple portrait of the young royal wearing a striped sweater and jeans in a field of daisies. She wore her long hair down in its natural waves, looking very much like her mother, Kate Middleton.
In a follow-up post, they shared a video of Charlotte on a gorgeous day, highlighting some of her hobbies. In the montage, she plays with the family dogs, petting and cuddling them. She’s then seen on the beach, forming words and a heart with a collection of white stones. In one of the last clips, Charlotte winds up and pitches what looks like a cricket ball.
Charlotte is Prince William and Kate’s second child. She has an older brother, 12-year-old Prince George, and a younger brother, 8-year-old Prince Louis. The family traditionally shares photos of each of the royal children on birthdays and other milestone events.
In October, William shared more about Charlotte on the Apple TV+ series The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy. Apparently, she loves her trampoline, playing netball, and ballet.
“So keeping them busy with sports and just being outdoors is really important,” he said.
In January 2026, Kate also shared that Charlotte loves to stay active while speaking with schoolgirls during a visit to Wakefield Trinity. She explained that her daughter “does loads of sport but not rugby.”
In March 2026, royal photographer Chris Jackson said in an interview with Page Six that Charlotte and her brothers are very aware of their place in the public eye.
“You don’t see them very often, but when you do see them, it’s lovely to watch them kind of growing up,” Jackson shared. “I’m guessing they realize it’s not normal to be in these situations.”
He added, “It’s lovely to see them interacting together. Photographing them over the years has been really special.”
