Eamonn Holmes is said to have lost his role of 19 years
Eamonn Holmes faces a fresh blow as his beloved Manchester United has reportedly axed his role with the club after 19 yeas. The presenter and huge fan of the Red Devils had held a role on the board of the Manchester United Foundation.
But it’s claimed the club have now removed him from the role as he is required to have a mandatory “break”. Filings at Companies’ House showed the GB News star as ‘resigned’ from his role as Director.
It’s said that the presenter’s removal from the position is “standard practice” as each member shouldn’t exceed nine consecutive years in the role.

Speaking to Daily Mail, an insider said: “It is only a ceiling benchmark, and it is possible to remain on for longer. While Eamonn has served two consecutive stints, on this occasion the current chair of the board has used their discretion to implement a mandatory “break” which has resulted in Eamonn stepping aside.
“It is ultimately out of Eamonn’s control. While it is believed Eamonn could one day return to the board, it is unclear how long the enforced break is.”
Eamonn still has the position in his Instagram bio. Last month the presenter had a health scare after it was revealed he had a stroke.
In a statement, GB News said: “Eamonn was taken ill last week and it was later confirmed he had suffered a stroke. He is currently responding well to treatment. Eamonn has asked for privacy as he focuses on getting better.” He took to Instagram days later post a message to say his grandchildren had sent him a get well soon message. The images showed his granddaughters holding a message that read “get well soom”.
And he acknowledged the spelling mistake in his post as he said: “Got this first thing this morning, from my two lovely granddaughters. So now doing my best to get well SOOM!!”
His son also shared an update shortly after the news of his health scare broke. Son Declan 37, spoke on behalf of the star’s family.
He said: “I just wanted to share a quick message to say we hugely appreciate all the messages, it means a lot to us as a family.
“What happened came as a real shock, but dad is doing OK given the circumstances and we’re taking it one step at a time. For now, we’re focused on him and keeping things steady around him.”
He went on: “We’d really value a bit of privacy as we navigate it, and what lies ahead, but thank you again for the support as it means so much to dad and the rest of the family.”
