It was Jonathan Anderson’s first Met Gala as Creative Director for Dior, and he dressed nine celebrities for the occasion. For most, it was a case of “floral for spring,” but there were moments where the narrative pushed beyond the obvious.

Cinema, Cut Into Couture

In terms of storytelling, I was fully enamoured by Sabrina Carpenter’s take on cinema as her art form, wearing a Dior tulle dress with actual strips of film from the 1954 movie Sabrina appliquéd in rhinestones. It felt personal in a playful, self-referential way, tying back to her name rather than her career, which made the concept all the more memorable. Completed by embroidered fringed cuffs and a jewelled headpiece, this is exactly what the Met Gala should deliver. This was my second favourite look of the night and one for her Hall of Fame, even with the chunky Christian Louboutin Dolly Alta platforms. Chopard jewels completed her look.

Déjà Vu, But Make It Fresh

If you’re anything like me, you had a moment of déjà vu looking at Alexa Chung, thanks to the headpiece composed of fabric lily-of-the-valley bouquets, which instantly took me back to her 2023 Met Gala look. The distinction this time came via her chartreuse Dior gown, anchored by a fabric waterlily brooch that kept the floral narrative in play. Matching Dior shoes and Dior Haute Joaillerie jewels completed her look.

Garden Party With A Twist

Jisoo’s Dior strapless, backless column dress, entirely embroidered with a garden scene and trimmed with floral bouquets, leans fully into the theme, but it’s the playful finish that lifts it. The floral headpiece adds a storybook charm, with a subtle nod to traditional hair adornment.

Minimal, But Not Basic

Karlie Kloss unsurprisingly took a more minimalist route in Dior Spring 2026 Haute Couture. The sculptural silhouette does the heavy lifting here, while the headpiece embroidered with fabric orchids, along with the grass-green Dior shoes act as contrasting pops that ties the look into the garden theme.

A Shift In Direction

Miranda Kerr’s red carpet formula can feel predictable at times, but this custom Dior backless top in draped organza, embroidered with rhinestone flowers, paired with a georgette skirt finished with floral embroidery and plumetis, gave us a silhouette that offered something new. Hassanzadeh Jewellery and Flor de Maria Taylor sandals completed her look.

Selling The Drama

While this Dior black satin dress feels heavier compared to the lighter hues in this lineup, the outward-projecting skirt and embroidered florals give it presence. Naomi Watts sells it completely. I’m not convinced this would land the same way on anyone else. A standing ovation for the hair and makeup team. Dior Haute Joaillerie jewels completed her look.

Classic With A Seasonal Misstep

As expected, Met Gala debutant Paul Anthony Kelly kept things classic. The Dior burgundy velvet reads a touch wintery for the setting, especially among this lineup of floral beauties, but I’ll always appreciate a silk shawl-collar tailcoat. A Vacheron Constantin timepiece, along with a Dior Haute Joaillerie ring and brooch, completed his look.

Next Generation, Fully In Step

Sunday Rose Kidman Urban joined her mother wearing a Dior gown featuring a striking gradient of floral embroidery. The earrings, also embroidered with flowers, add a neat finishing touch that keeps the look playful and cohesive.

It would have been awesome if she had taken an Apple Martin approach and worn her mother’s Dior Spring 2013 Haute Couture gown from The Great Gatsby Cannes Film Festival premiere.

A Welcome Change

I was fully on board with Adrien Brody’s approach to this Met Gala. He has long leaned traditional on the red carpet, so this felt like a shift. The leather trousers run slightly long, but credit where it’s due, he’s trying something different.
