Plenty of Marvel Netflix characters have been making a comeback during the last two years courtesy of Daredevil: Born Again. There was a time audiences thought they had seen the last of fan favorites such as Jessica Jones, the Punisher, Karen Page, and Luke Cage. Fortunately, all of them are active in the Marvel Cinematic Universe once more, and they aren’t leaving anytime soon. However, that doesn’t mean that every single beloved character who once stole the spotlight is officially back.
Audiences eagerly await the day the likes of Elektra or Iron Fist jump back into action. Fortunately, Daredevil: Born Again season 3 set pictures revealed that the latter will be back in action next year. But what about the former? While nothing is set in stone just yet, a new post has fans convinced that we’ll see more of the previous leader of The Hand sooner than expected, despite the character’s fate on the small screen.

Elodie Yung is in New York City, where shooting for Daredevil: Born Again season 3 is taking place
While audiences are still processing that fantastic Daredevil: Born Again season 2 finale, filming for season 3 is currently underway in New York City. Incidentally, Elodie Yung, who brought Elektra to life in the Marvel Netflix shows, uploaded a post of herself in New York. That alone was enough to convince fans that we’re about to see more of the iconic antihero next year.
Interestingly, Daredevil: Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane talked about such a long-awaited comeback in an interview with Nexus Point News, and teased that we could see more of Elektra in the future:
“What we do when we’re in the writer’s room is we go and look at some of the iconic comic book runs. We look at a lot of the things that seem to make sense in the story that we’re moving forward, and then when the time comes to bring a character in or to add a storyline, we have our wish list. Everybody you have mentioned so far [Elektra and Colleen Wing] is on that wish list. There’s the stuff that I would love to do, there’s the stuff that they’re doing in the larger MCU, and sometimes those align, and sometimes they don’t.”
Daredevil: Born Again has been, for the most part, a very grounded show that has rarely tackled any supernatural themes. However, we know that’s about to change. Iron Fist is confirmed to make an appearance in the third season of the show, a character who has trained his whole life to stop The Hand. Furthermore, we know the criminal organization is bound to wreak havoc during the events of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Now, more than ever, would be a perfect time for Elektra to jump back into action.
The last time we saw Elektra on the small screen was during the events of The Defenders, where a whole building collapsed on her, seemingly ending her life. However, Matt Murdock was able to survive such a catastrophic event, meaning there’s a chance Elektra did so as well. But even if she died, she had been brought back to life before, so maybe history will repeat itself once more.
The Punisher and The Hand are confirmed to return in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and Rosario Dawson’s Claire Temple is rumored to make an appearance in it as well. As such, it’s clear that the upcoming MCU film will share a clear connection with the Daredevil mythos as a whole. While it’s unlikely that Elektra will physically show up, there’s a chance she will be referenced in some form. Maybe her fate could finally be revealed, ahead of Daredevil: Born Again season 3.
In comic book pages, Matt Murdock went to prison after accidentally killing a man as Daredevil. In his absence, Elektra Natchios took over the Daredevil mantle and protected Hell’s Kitchen (with a very awesome, new costume). So now that Matt has gone to jail in Born Again, we could see a similar scenario play out on the small screen. After years of living in the shadows, Elektra could finally decide to go back into the light to help the man she once loved.
Only time will tell whether Elektra will be back in the MCU. However, one thing’s for certain: all the pieces are set to see her once more, so hopefully that opportunity will materialize sooner than expected.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 is now streaming on Disney+.
