Perez Hilton Shares Reason Behind 21-Day Hospital Stay | E! News

Perez Hilton is getting candid about a scary situation. In a video message to his fans, the blogger detailed how he ended up in the hospital for three weeks, expressing hope that followers could learn from his mistake. “My stupidity landed me in the hospital for 21 days and this is the most important video that I have ever shared,” Perez shared in a video posted to YouTube March 23. “It was the worst and best thing that’s ever happened to me.” The 48-year-old (real name Mario Armando Lavandeira Jr.) said that he’d “had the flu for about a week” and began taking medication to get better. “However—big but—I didn’t take any of my medication with food,” Perez added. “I never have.” Unfortunately, the medications were extremely hard on his stomach and intestines. After a week of taking them on an empty stomach, he developed an ulcer, a perforation and sepsis, which led to him being admitted to the hospital with intense stomach pains. 1. That is weird! My current medication clearly states on the description better to take on an empty stomach. If the side effects are too strong and you’re struggling then you can start taking with food. It says to take without food for better absorption. Please don’t follow everyone’s advice on the internet. Consult a medical professional.
Glad to hear he is getting better.

  2. There are some meds that you can take with or without food. You have to check. Sometimes taking without food caises an uset stomach. He was suppose to take only with food but he didn't

  3. I've seen "take with food" stick on labels on prescription bottles before, but I never paid much attention to it. Now I will. Simple. Thanks, Perez Hilton!

  4. Wait for it… he’ll ask us to pay his medical bills. And conveniently not mentioning the role ozympic played in his lack of eating.

  5. That depends on the meds. Some have to be taken on an empty stomach. Read the directions. If it doesn't say take before eating, then eat before taking. That is an extreme reaction and coming from the medical field, I feel like there is more to that story.
