Baroness Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven was intensely cool. I researched her for an art history paper. There was a now-discredited theory that Duchamp’s Fountain in 1917 was her idea, but her own art was very strange and very alluring.
I recall from my research that her third and final husband (the Baron) was taken as a prisoner of war and committed suicide in 1919. She said it was the best thing he ever did.
I still think about her all the time… RIP ♥️
