She’s not wrong but is clearly not doing well and lashing out at the wrong person for it.

  2. So, did their agent say this is why she was fired? I think it’s WILD people are being fired for demanding basic empathy and care for other people.

    Free Palestine 🇵🇸

  3. cranberrylimeade420 on

maybe i’m misreading this but this sounds more like a complaint about her agent/the industry than a complaint against anything Mark Ruffalo did

    > I DMdyou about this months ago but you ignored me.

I assume most celebrities’ DMs go ignored, or if not, they get so many messages that it’s easy for a legit message to slip thru the cracks

  4. yayannabelle on

Uhhhhhhhhhh. Some good points, very badly made; I hope she gets the help and support she needs.

  5. Appropriate-Top-8963 on

YIKES. I would wager he never saw her DM, claiming he ignored her is pretty wild to me. That is not Mark Ruffalo’s style at all.

  6. Different_Prior_517 on

Lately Kate Beckinsale has been posting a lot of these stream of consciousness posts. The one about Michael Sheen and now this, her points would be better made with a more concise statement.

If she really was fired by her agent for liking a post about human rights and it’s the same agent as Ruffalo then that really is messed up.

But Mark’s under no obligation to reply to her DMs and putting him on blast like this seems like the wrong move.

  7. very-pink-iceberg on

While the focus on celebrity’s employability for speaking out in support of Palestine is not the point, and the focus should remain 100% on the Palestinian lives lost, she is not wrong. It’s a pretty clear double standard.

  8. AdhesivenessFar5588 on

This is genuinely so confusing. She’s mad at him for not getting fired? Or is she mad at him for not responding to a DM? He must get thousands of DM’s a day, and most likely doesn’t even manage his own socials.

Like, I do understand that there is definitely a lot of misogyny and double standards going on here, but I don’t really see how it factors into being his fault. I really feel for her, and what she’s clearly been going through, but I’m at a loss here.

  9. Chlorophyllmatic on

To be a bit charitable to Ruffalo re: that end remark, I would also ignore a DM from Becksinsale based on just about everything I’ve ever seen relating to her — both outside of this situation and the way she’s lashing out at him here for things totally out of his control

  10. thecuriousostrich on

Her comments here seem entirely justified but, without any further context than this post, it seems a bit odd for her to be coming at *him* for this (instead of her agent) as if her unfair treatment by her agent is somehow his fault. Everything she’s saying about being female in Hollywood is true but that’s not really Mark Ruffalo’s fault, no?

  11. InterwebHero20 on

I’m not saying she’s wrong in general and this is an ungenerous take but there might be other reasons an agent would drop Kate Beckinsale recently

  12. mandatory_french_guy on

All valid but girl you GOTTA know someone who’s got his number I really dont think Ruffalo is really checking his DMs.

Anyway agency is UTA who conveniently doesn’t list their actors on their website, but they did drop Bob Vylan not so long ago

[Edit: Also look, at some point you also gotta recognize that outside of the penis thing, Ruffalo is an avenger and the highest profile thing Beckinsale did in the past 10 years is the 5th movie in the Underworld franchise…”

  13. Known-Watercress-953 on

Though I agree with what she’s sayin, she is definitely going about it the wrong way. Especially because he probably doesn’t look at his DMs at all and it’s so easy not to see a message, especially if they get hundreds a day. I genuinely doubt that he saw her dm and then just ignored it.

  14. ItsDarwinMan82 on

I have no doubt Hollywood is misogynistic, but do we really know that this was the reason she was dropped by her agent? There could be a lot more to this than liking a post.

  15. This is very sad. While it’s absolutely true that women are put on a pedestal and men have more power in Hollywood, this frustration seems oddly misplaced. Seems strange to comment this on his account. Knowing Ruffalo’s history, I’m sure he didn’t purposefully ignore her DMs. I hope she can get some help, she’s had a difficult past few years ❤️

  16. WalterTheCatFurever on

I just visited her Instagram for the first time and it is very clear she is in a prolonged mental health crisis that has many layers to it. Perhaps her reps could have helped facilitate treatment before dropping her. But it’s a cruel and soulless business – which in itself has major hand in her present state.

  17. I always respond to DM from “Kate Beckinsale” although “she” usually asked for some sort of gift card exchange.

  18. Moldyfrenchtoast on

She appears to be going through a lot right now. I hope she get off of social media, and find support with family and friends in real life.

  19. I’ve been worried about her for a while now. She’s dealt with a lot of loss the past few years and has clearly had a lot bottled up that’s being unleashed now. I don’t fault her at all for being angry at the industry, society, and world. Not sure Mark Ruffalo’s comments is the place to do it, but Mark doesn’t seem like the type to hold that against her.

  20. She made a mistake. Because she’s human. And is clearly in a very difficult situation.. I hope she gets industry support. And when she’s better, I hope she sues for unfair dismissal. Or whatever you do with an agent.

  21. digiartist21 on

This reads like she claims ruffalo didnt respond to a DM and is upset that he  hasnt been reprimanded for his stance with palestine. I get being upset for being fired for standing up against genocide esp as a woman in Hollywood, anyone would be, but I dont understand why she would be attacking ruffalo about this and not the fact that hollywood execs are silencing women for stanfing up for human rights. Hes not responsible for her firing? What even is this directed anger.

  22. sunsextilejupiter on

She’s right but also slightly directing anger at the wrong person, and we don’t know how much Mark Ruffalo has lost from speaking out against the Palestinian genocide either

I truly believe the only reason their agent didn’t drop Ruffalo as well is because he plays such a big character in Marvel/Disney. The agent is not going to lose their major cash cow

  23. Daaaamn he’s are bars on bars but I’d be tagging and naming the agent rather than Ruffalo tbh

  24. clementinesyawn on

to me this just sounds like a cry for help and anger towards the system rather than at mark ruffalo himself. it’s true women don’t get away with half the things men are able to so i understand her rage. is this the perfect way to go about it? no. but i bet mark will see this comment through an empathetic lens and i hope people don’t send her hate for a very valid point.

  25. Getting canceled for supporting Palestine sucks. I am sure that she’s also faced sexism professionally, as virtually every woman has.

But I do believe that if someone discards of you because you stood up for Palestine, chances are they did it because they felt like they could afford to. Mark Ruffalo is an A-list actor with a starring role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kate Beckinsale is not. Susan Sarandon is elderly and at the end of her career.

I may sound harsh, but my family is full of zionists, I know how these people think. Reading what Kate Beckinsale wrote about being on good terms with her agent right before getting fired, it sounds all too familiar, I know this story from my own family. I feel for her, it sounds like she’s going through a very difficult time. I don’t think this was because of sexism, but it does sound like it was because of Palestine, and I hope Mark Ruffalo can say or do something to help her out.

  26. Alarming_Situation_5 on

It’s really hard to have a hard time. I wish her peace, especially outside of Hollywood.

  27. bella_ella_ella on

I really feel like he didn’t see her dm. He would be publicly and legitimately mad about this. Not that I know him personally obviously lol. But his reputation and moves would suggest he hadn’t seen it.

She also isn’t wrong that she was targeted and reacted to differently because she’s a woman.

  28. lonelycranberry on

Holy fuck. I am 100% on her side but she does not sound well. Mark is not the right target. She is right though. Also, posting in his comments is going to get much more traction than had she posted this on her own story or ig. That much was likely intentional. She was upset he didn’t respond to her DM and lashed out because that implied his complicity with the unfairness of it all.

I get her. I just wish she had done this differently.

  29. Looking at Kate’s IG is… difficult. Now I certainly empathize with her, but it’s been obvious for quite some time that she really isn’t doing well. I just hope she gets the support she needs

  30. HiccupsHives on

She sounds like she is going through and has been going through an extremely hard time. I’m not mad at her for her misdirected anger at mark ruffalo. Men in hollywood are allowed to get away with so much worse and women are punished for the slightest thing.

  31. Resident_Conflict868 on

We need to be a community and support people Zionist try to shame & shun. I don’t mind her commenting esp if it helps her get unblacklisted or he fires the agency for the double standards.

  32. I’m kinda concerned for her. No idea if she’s going through a mental health crisis, since (I don’t really follow her so I’m not very familiar) I’ve heard a lot from her in a short while and what she wrote was a bit rambling in text and out of no where. Or it could just be her finally speaking up after years of frustration

  33. turningtee74 on

I’m not reading all that but it sounds like her core points aren’t necessarily wrong or not worth speaking out on. She said she was abused in her marriage on the other one. And here if they share the same agent, that’s extremely hypocritical of the agent and shows a disparity in the industry. Even if someone is messy or not in line, I’d rather focus on the content of what they’re saying and not invalidate it because it’s not packaged perfectly.
