Meet: Charlotte Corday (1768-1793)! During the French Revolution, she assassinated Jacobin leader Jean-Paul by stabbing him in the heart whilst he was in the bath. She is quoted as saying “I have killed one man to save 100,000” during her trial. She was executed via guillotine aged 24.

You forgot to write the name of Jean-Paul Marat.
Also, the whole “heroic assassin” angle ignores how much Marat’s reputation has been trashed over time, he was a major voice for the poor during the French Revolution. History’s been a bit harsher on him than he probably deserves

  2. I learned a lot about this in the French Revolution course I took in college

I’m forever mad that she wasn’t the focus of the French Revolution assassins creed game. She’s the only actual assassin from that era!

Her being a mentor to a female assassin protagonist who gets caught and executed leading to the main plot of revenge and reconsideration would have been so incredible. Instead we got the least interesting entry in the series.

  4. My husband has auditioned for Jeopardy twice and she is one of those people I’ll randomly ask if he remembered because he can’t remember if it’s Corday or Cordray

We are Jean-Paul Marat, we carry the flame
We’ll fight for the revolution, we’ll honor his name
