Bryan Cranston setting another example of why he’s one of the GOATs, where he wants his daughter to actually work hard for her success rather than having everything handed to her.

I hope Taylor had a lot more success ahead of her, especially given how incredible she is in the hit series; The Pitt as Dr. Melissa King!

Lollllll, like they weren’t going to hire Bryan Cranston’s daughter for BREAKING BAD?!?!!

  2. totallycalledla-a on

Oh please 🙄. I love him but come on. This is such a stupid thing to say.

  3. GallifreyFallsOver on

If he genuinely wanted it to be based on skills he should’ve arranged it in such a way where the casting team weren’t aware of which one was Bryan’s daughter; heck don’t even let them know she’s auditioning.

  4. love-angel-musicbaby on

I appreciate him making her audition, but hiring your daughter to guest on a show you star in for an episode you’re directing is in fact the definition of nepo baby lol
It’s ok! Parents should do their best to take care of their children

  5. I really wish people would just acknowledge that having a famous parent in the business is a huge leg up and leave it at that. You can still be good at acting.

It’s literally the same show her dad was starring in.

“I had the casting people set it up”.

Honestly my mum got me my first job at her hospital at 16 and I think that’s pretty explicit nepotism …

  7. I love Bryan Cranston – he’s one of my favorite actors of all time! I think this is an out of touch moment for him. He should be aware of the optics of this, and didn’t need to say this.

  8. burnerbkxphl on

I love when celebrities explain how it’s not nepotism

Just acknowledge the existence of nepotism and move on

  9. anthonystank on

This is honestly such classic dad shit I don’t even care. She’s also proven herself since to be a really talented actor. He absolutely gave her a leg up but it’s also clear from the way he talks about it that he made a conscious effort to push her to do the work and not just coast and to give her the expectation (even if it isn’t necessarily true) that she is not deserving of special treatment based on who her father is

  10. Extension_Swan1414 on

I’m a VP and I just got my sister an entry level job at my company and she had to go through the application and interview process, even though she obviously was going to get the job. Be so for real, Bryan

  11. I don’t think there’s a problem with any of what he’s describing, and I think nepotism exists in a lot of industries as well as kids just naturally having a leg up if they’ve been exposed to an industry or skill all their life via their parents. That said, come the fuck on lol. The act of being able to just casually have the casting director set up an audition for her and have the opportunity to do so ‘fall into his lap’ vs her having to hustle to even get an audition in the first place is a huge part of nepotism in Hollywood.

I don’t have a problem at all with children of actors entering the industry and even being given a leg up. I strongly believe the viewing audiences will ultimately determine the success of an actor no matter who their parents are, if they’re not good they won’t endure. But let’s call a spade a spade my dude. There’s nothing wrong with acknowledging she worked hard AND her father having the power he does helped open the door.

  12. prettybunbun on

Why do they say stuff like this 😭😭

She did not have to audition when she’s the leads daughter! Bryan Cranstons daughter!! Like yes she probs had to read some lines but she was never not getting hired!

Either admit yeah you want to give your kid their dreams and got them the spot (as most parents would) or don’t talk about it lol

  13. SnooJokes7657 on

People have gotten ridiculous about “Nepotism Babies.” He didn’t say she didn’t have any advantages. He is saying he didn’t just hire her or make the decision. Taylor is talented. Most people I know really liked her on the Pitt before having a clue who her dad was, including me. Nepotism happens in all industries. If the child is actually good at the job they should at least be able to be recognized for that.

  14. So he got her an audition, she did not have to put in any work for that at all, and everyone knew it was his daughter. Yeah sure buddy. No nepotism there

  15. Alright, I’ll concede that if she was absolute garbage and the worst of the bunch, then she might not have been cast.

But if the star of the show goes out of his way to set up an audition for his daughter – for a mostly meaningless role, no less – and she’s even half-decent, you’re giving it to her (which seems to be what happened here)

  16. Caesar_Rising on

Not a nepo hire but he arranged it with casting and he spoke to AMC and Sony specifically pointing out which one she was… come on dude.

  17. The whole nepo not nepo thing in Hollywood is so tired. Nepotism exists everywhere. In every industry. When successful parents have kids they want the best for them and it is natural kids want to follow the paths of their successful parents. So they use their connects to get them opportunities. This is how the world works.

The question that should be asked “is she good”? And she is awesome in the Pitt. So time to move on.

  18. Still a nepo baby 🤣 he got her that audition in the first place, and I’m sure it was just a formality.

  19. Morning_Song on

Why are celebrities allergic to admitting to nepotism? Like being a nepo baby and a liar is worse than just being a nepo baby

  20. amethystalien6 on

Taylor is a great actor. Bryan Cranston seems like a good guy. This is complete bullshit.

  21. I love Bryan

But I hate when celebrities try to insult people’s intelligence

Like we really don’t believe that him being her father held 0 influence over the casting directors???

  22. This is sweet but also delusional. Ofc they were going to cast his daughter for that tiny part. 😭😭😭 He even set up the audition lol. It was just a formality. <3 her tho.

  23. Crying_in_99Ranch on

An audition where both sides know she’s gonna get it

  24. Top-Structure-1116 on

I get annoyed by nepo babies not being aware of their privilege but I’m not going to get all worked up over a parent for being overly proud of their kid, even if it’s misguided to a large extent.

  25. NorthernSnowPrincess on

He contacted casting and set up the audition. And he doesn’t think she’s a nepo baby??

  26. AGiantBlueBear on

Did you actually listen to any of this? He set the audition up for her and it sounds like she didn’t come in anonymously. Personally I don’t care much about nepo babies in the arts but like, this is not the example you think it is

  27. Zolazolazolaa on

Why do AAA celebs not understand that even getting the audition is an act of nepotism. And unless the casting was done by some independent entity who has no idea who is auditioning or Bryan Cranston is, then there is inherent bias from nepotism. Also, IT’S OKAY to acknowledge these advantages, people understand wanting to help you family, just don’t pretend they don’t exist.

  28. LuriemIronim on

If they knew the main actor’s daughter was auditioning, it was absolutely a nepo hire. Why are celebrities so ashamed to admit that?

  29. Nooooo Bryan Cranston…nooooo.

First of all: even if she was a totally blind hire and they scrubbed her name off everything, she still got into that audition room.

Are celebrities really this delusional? Or do they just think we are that stupid.

They consistently don’t understand the meaning of a nepo hire.

So defensive for no reason. A huge portion of the world runs on nepo hires hah.

  30. Blastoise_R_Us on

I love Bryan Cranston but who’s to say what they actually thought of her audition? What’s done is done though.

  31. suppadelicious on

lol I’m sure it was a hard choice for the casting team to choose between random 13 year old and Bryan Cranston’s daughter.

  32. RacinInTheStreet on

Just admit to your privilege and hers. Its nepotism either way, just with an added layer for optics.
