Idk she should’ve stopped after she said it was her culture, she didn’t need to call it weird.

I’ve seen lots of racist comments on other subs saying this was creepy or heckling. Those people are clearly very uncultured, because this is just a very common equivalent of white people ‘whoo-ing’ in a lot of cultures.

I’m sure she didn’t mean any harm but the fact that the person clarified multiple times the significance and she stilled called it weird is a bit questionable??

  3. Ululating is Middle Eastern cheering, or mourning, or protesting, or anything that requires some passionate noise…

Genuinely, do people not know this? It’s so familiar to me having lived in NYC for decades.

  5. She should’ve probably stopped after the girl said it was her culture. I can already see people downplaying this.

The comments went crazy on r/popculturechat.

I didn’t see the whole concert, but from that clip all I’m seeing is people cheering and this lady doing that zaghroot on top of it. It really is a celebration/joyful/emotional sound. That’s just an expression of support from the lady and it got misunderstood. I’m berber and yes it is a part of my culture. Not saying that I’d do it myself but yo, don’t try to find a mean meaning to it.

It could have gone unnoticed but it perturbed the artist. Yeah, sorry that happened and sorry she thought it was something different.

The more I read about it, the more it feels like “arab woman DARED express herself and JUSTIFIED herself, burn her to the stick!”

She shoulda just stopped after the person said it was her culture lol she had nothing witty to say

i’m not a sabrina carpenter fan and this video has encouraged me to retain my position on the matter

  9. Why did she look disgusted? 😟 she shouldve stopped after the person said it’s her culture. Instead of asking if it’s burning man 😬

I actually think anyone filling crowd silence during quieter parts of performances is so rude, but her commentary on the type of sound is not relevant 😭. Does she call out other times when people scream they love her during quieter parts?! Feels like no.

  11. I’dve been ‘flattered’ to hear a zaghroot at my performance!! Shut up Sabrina.

You give a white woman a chance and she lets you down every time 🫩🫩🫩🫩

  13. Not gonna judge her if she didn’t like it. But it was explained in detail what it was but she then doubles down? Short and Stupid is more like it.

The difference in opinions between this sub and the p*p culture sub always gives me whiplash 🫨

God forbid someone cheer with anything other than the western white girl whoooohooo

People are already calling her critics misogynists. It’s now misogynistic to call out white women on their cultural insensitivities. Someone said survey 100 Americans and no one would know. So you’re proud that you and your country are both ignorant 😂😂😂 it’s okay if you don’t know what it is and are thrown off by it at first, but she called it weird after the fan clarified it was her culture.

Americans read a book or watch a documentary instead of scrolling mindlessly on social media all day challenge

Jeezus with all that money she couldn’t travel and idk, meet other people? What a very uneducated thing to say.

  18. She could’ve just kept quiet? Like people cheer all the time, let’s not call it out? They paid a lot of money to see you.

i was watching this last night wishing she’d just stop talking. why, sabrina?

  20. I always liked Sabrina, but this is a terrible response to something that, even if it wasn’t her culture, is so not harmful

I can’t get over the eye roll and nose scrunch, like “Are you guys seeing this..?” Girl.. it’s so not weird. I’m as white as can be, and even I can recognize this sound even if I didn’t know what it was called.

  21. Someone needs to expand their horizons. For someone who has been in the biz since childhood, making a comment like that on stage is baffling….. talk about ‘weird’, and perhaps a revealing look at how sheltered she actually is.

I’m just impressed their able to have this normal conversation in a massive crowd and giant stage

  23. HeyItsMeMrBoss on

The energy of this is basically:

“If we could just be a little more white in the crowds, okay?”

  24. Love me some Sabrina but I actually had to switch to something else and come back so I could properly enjoy her set after this. It was so cringey, ignorant, and unnecessary. And then there were comments like “OMG I LOVE HER” “SHE’S SO FUNNY” “IM GLAD SHE CALLED THEM OUT THAT WAS SO WEIRD LOL”

Her piano was malfunctioning at the moment so maybe the anxiousness from that made it come out nastier, but it was such a mean white girl moment and I found it triggering lol.
