the first movie was eye catching because it was so different from other movies. third time around, it’s getting a little boring. it’s still well made and cool, but it feels like they found a cow and are milking it DRY.
with other animations like Arcane or Kpop Demon Hunter, the 3d with 2d drawing on top feels played out to me. it’s like when Arcade Fire came out and then every indie band was Arcade Fire 2 for a while.

If they stick the landing with this one, I could see this rivaling Toy Story as the greatest animated trilogy of all time.
