I’d love to meet him mainly because I was raised by a long suffering White Sox fan father and am curious how the Pope kept his faith during his own fandom because I’ve seen the frustrating toll it takes on an individual.

Idk, I’m not religious but was raised Catholic, and while I have a lot of criticism for all organized religions, I do have a lot of respect for the change Pope Leo is continuing to bring to the church. Blame it on my upbringing, but I’d be pretty honored to meet him. There’s still massive issues with the church of course, but with their traditional course of digging their heels in rather than progressing, seeing any change feels exciting tbh.

  3. I feel like with a lot of cradle Catholics – we’re mostly atheists/agnostics but we will defend Leo and this iteration of the papacy. The Catholic Church obviously has its issues but I can recognize and appreciate that they chose the absolute best option for Pope right now. I do not believe in god but would still be excited to meet this pope, now Benedict ….no thank you lol

It’s jarring to see adult converts complain about basic principles – like Martin Luther did his whole thing about this! You can go be Protestant and evangelize but leave us out of it

“[Prevost was the “prior provincial” of the Midwest Province from 1999 to 2001, during which time his group allowed an accused pedophile priest named James Ray to live in an Augustinian monastery less than a block from a Catholic grade school on the South Side.](https://chicago.suntimes.com/the-watchdogs/2025/05/09/pope-leo-cardinal-robert-prevost-midwest-augustinians-chicago)

Nobody apparently alerted the school, St. Thomas the Apostle, and church records wrongly asserted no school was “in the immediate area.”

A 2021 Chicago Sun-Times story pointed this out, and the Augustinians on Friday portrayed Prevost’s role in Ray’s move to the monastery as minimal and noted that Ray, who eventually left the priesthood, was never accused of molesting anyone while living in the building, also called a friary.”

The title Vicar of Christ (from the Latin Vicarius Christi) primarily refers to the Pope as the earthly representative or “deputy” of Jesus Christ

  7. And poor Guy Fieri is getting shit for shaking hands with a Tate brother…. 🤦‍♂️

I know this is not the point but I have a forever crush on her. She’s so dreamy in Freaks and Geeks.
