Akon Shares Michael Jackson Memories and His Pitch to Bring Back Britney Spears! | ET Then & Now

Akon sits down with ET’s Kevin Frazier for an intimate chat about his career beginnings and next chapter. The GRAMMY-nominated singer and producer, with hits like ‘Smack That,’ ‘Right Now’ and ‘I Wanna Love You,’ reflects on his early days, including how a penitentiary tour, performing for inmates after his own prison stay, launched him to stardom. He shares memories of growing up in Africa, then moving to the US and working with Michael Jackson on some of the King of Pop’s final music. He also offers his plea to Britney Spears to get back in the studio and make a new album! Akon’s latest album, ‘Beautiful Day,’ is out April 24, the same day he kicks off his co-headlining tour with Ne-Yo, ‘Nights Like This.’

  1. [As of 04/26/2026]: Akon is 53 years old….and Kevin Frazier is 61 years old. Take care of that melanated skin w/ cremes…exfoliating…moisturizer and a good diet!! Cuz, these men age WELL!

Akon just gained weight…and no hair. That’s the only difference, in 20 years.

  2. irrelevant akon is a clown and a fraud; he recently went on public record saying he was partially responsible for the success of jeffree star's cosmetic line when he had absolutely nothing to do with it.. just bizarre..

  3. We are all praying that Britney comes back and please you have to like do a song for Britney and but before all of that, she has to do something first, but we are all begging and praying for our queen our legendary pop queen, Britney Spears to come back ❤️❤️❤️✨✨🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💎

  4. Akon.. you've done alot of good things for the world.. well for Africa… but you sitting here shouting out pdf-file Michael Jackson, then u can leave Britney n all the lil white girls alone thx…. remember when he was almost cancelled for dry-pounding some kid on stage n wrote a song about it 'like oopsy poopsy wasn't my fault she was in a club for adults' .. as if the difference between a kid n adult is visually obvious. All these rappers n rnb singers… all the same.
