This is such a bad way to represent. At least show percentages. 5M out of 600 is nothing…

would be cool to see who lost a disproportionate percentage instead

It’s very unlikely that these are bought followers and more likely they are trying to pass off as more human. Selena Gomez hardly has a reason to buy 5M followers on top of the 400M she already has

So do they hire bots? Or do bots just follow the most followed accounts?

I forget who it was but a few years ago someone, maybe an influencer, was down to a few hundred followers after a bot purge. So embarrassing lol.

This is a bad infographic, show us the accounts with the most % lost and also order this some how probably by descending percentage!

the quesiton is, did those people buy those follows or were they bots trying to make themselves seem more real.

If I had to guess, its more of the later, even more so with inactive accounts

is this a safe space to say that i do not understand why selena has so many followers? she’s been one of the most followed for YEARS and I don’t understand why?! she was never the biggest in any of her ventures and even combining all of her work doesn’t feel like she should be *anywhere* near 400 million!!! and I LOVE her!! been loving her since disney channel!!! but like…. why HER???

  9. When you make an account, doesn’t it show you 10 large accounts to follow right off the rip?

It’s likely the bots just followed whomever was shown and that was that

  10. Does this really mean anything? I have like 53 followers on insta and 5 of them are bots, thats around 9% (I used to remove them, but they just come back). Messi lost what is equivalent to 0,9%.

  11. I’ve always wondered if there will ever be a way to see the rate of likes / interactions of real people vs bots. Down to the single account liking them. Used to be. But it’d be interested to see how insane those numbers are inflated

So like 10-15%is all bots. Period.

Cool wish reddit would do the same

Why does Selena Gomez have such a disproportionately large following? She doesn’t really do much lol. I’m not being a hater I don’t really have any feelings about Selena i just find it surprising to see she has more instagram followers than Beyoncé or Kim K

  14. It’d be much more interested to know how many comments from these bots were posted/deleted and what they were. Having bots inflate your follower count is one thing, but having bots artificially alter what reactions to your posts look like is another thing entirely. Perceived group consensus is a really powerful persuader.

Didn’t they also erase inactive accounts? It would make sense that celebrities who were big on Instagram early would have more inactive followers.
