Carrie Ann Inaba says a cross-country flight turned into an ambulance ride after a health scare midair. The 58-year-old Dancing With the Stars judge posted video on Thursday showing her in an ambulance and hospital the day before, explaining that she suddenly became sick en route from Los Angeles to New York, with cold sweats, dizziness, and numbness in her arms, reports People. Turbulence had forced flight attendants to stay seated, and Inaba wrote that she initially tried to manage the situation alone in the restroom before deciding “it was time to ask for help.” She credited flight attendants and doctors on board with stabilizing her until paramedics met the plane at the gate and took her to the ER.
Inaba said her blood pressure dropped in the ambulance but IV fluids helped her recover, and she was ultimately released from the hospital. The longtime TV personality has previously shared that she lives with multiple autoimmune conditions, including Sjogren’s syndrome, lupus, fibromyalgia, and rheumatoid arthritis. USA Today notes that, in 2021, Inaba left the CBS show The Talk she was co-hosting to take care of her health. Reflecting on this most recent incident, she wrote that frightening health moments remind her that while managing chronic illness can feel isolating, “the helpers are everywhere.”
