Royal biographer reveals Donald Trump’s off-camera thoughts

Royal biographer Robert Hardman sat down with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office during King Charles and Queen Camilla’s four-day state visit to the United States. During this meeting, Hardman presented Trump with a copy of his new biography on the late Queen Elizabeth, for which he had interviewed the President.

In the private meeting with Trump, Hardman sought Trump’s opinion on several family members, including Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and Prince William.

Trump, a renowned admirer of the Royal family, said (via PEOPLE), “We’ve done a good job with the King, right?… He’s a great guy, he really is.” He proceeded to ask Hardman about King Charles’ son and heir. “William, he’ll be a good King, won’t he?” Trump asked and added, “He’s very nice. A great guy. I like him.”

Trump also had positive things to say about Kate, Princess of Wales. “How’s she doing? She’s so great. She was sick, people said crazy things about her, and she was so brave,” the 79-year-old added. Trump even asked about the future generation of the Royal Family, including Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, 8.

According to Hardman, Trump’s reverence was not uniform among all family members. “So can Harry make a comeback?” he said, referring to Prince Harry. Commenting on Meghan Markle, who remains one of the most controversial figures in the Royal Family, Trump added, “That wife of his. Boy, what she’s done to that guy… I guess she got blocked out by William’s wife.”

Hardman’s inside scoop came after he interviewed Donald Trump for his biography of the late Queen Elizabeth, Elizabeth II: In Private. In Public. The Inside Story.
